The Prashnopanishad (from the Atharva Veda) is one of the classical Upanishads of Hindu philosophy. The word “Prashna” means question, and this Upanishad is presented in the form of six deep spiritual questions asked by six seekers to the sage Pippalāda. Each question deals with fundamental truths of life, creation, and the Self.

Key Teachings of the Prashnopanishad:

  1. Origin of Life – How creation began and how living beings came into existence.

  2. Role of Prāṇa (Life-force) – The importance of prāṇa as the vital energy that sustains the body and universe.

  3. Nature of Human Beings – The relation between body, senses, and the Self (Ātman).

  4. Dream and Deep Sleep – Insights into states of consciousness and what happens in them.

  5. Meditation on Om (Aum) – Different levels of realization attained by meditating on the sacred syllable Om.

  6. Ultimate Reality – Understanding the immortal Self and liberation (mokṣa).
