भक्त सालबेग भगवान जगन्नाथ के अनन्य भक्त थे, जिनकी भक्ति समाज की सीमाओं और धार्मिक परिधियों से परे थी। उनका जन्म एक मुस्लिम पिता और हिन्दू माता के घर हुआ, लेकिन उनके हृदय में केवल भगवान जगन्नाथ के प्रति प्रेम और श्रद्धा थी।
उन्होंने जीवनभर प्रभु के नाम का कीर्तन किया और कई सुंदर भजन रचे — जो आज भी पुरी धाम और समस्त ओडिशा में गाए जाते हैं।
एक कथा के अनुसार, जब सालबेग जी रथयात्रा में सम्मिलित नहीं हो सके, तब भगवान जगन्नाथ का रथ उनके दर्शन के लिए स्वयं रुक गया। यह प्रसंग दर्शाता है कि सच्ची भक्ति न तो धर्म, जाति या रूप से बंधी होती है, बल्कि हृदय की सच्चाई और समर्पण से ईश्वर को प्राप्त किया जा सकता है।

Bhakta Salabega was one of the greatest devotees of Lord Jagannath, known for his unwavering devotion that transcended all social and religious boundaries.
Born to a Muslim father and a Hindu mother, his heart was entirely devoted to Lord Jagannath of Puri.
He composed many soulful hymns and bhajans dedicated to the Lord, which are still sung in Odisha and during the Rath Yatra festival.
It is said that once, when Salabega was unable to attend the grand chariot festival, Lord Jagannath stopped His chariot midway just so His devotee could have His divine darshan.
His life stands as a testament that true devotion is beyond caste, creed, or religion — it is the pure love of the heart that reaches God.
