पवित्र गोदावरी जल / Holy Godavari Water (Collected at Nasik)

Description

गोदावरी को “दक्षिण की गंगा” कहा जाता है और पद्म‑पुराण व स्कंद‑पुराण में इसे मोक्षदायिनी नदी के रूप में वर्णित किया गया है। नासिक (प्राचीन प्रभास), जहाँ यह नदी सह्याद्री की पहाड़ियों से उतरती है, वहाँ का जल अत्यंत पवित्र माना जाता है। शास्त्र कहते हैं कि यहाँ एक घूँट या डुबकी से सभी पाप धुल जाते हैं, अश्वमेध यज्ञ के बराबर पुण्य मिलता है और मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है। भक्त इस जल को तांबे या पीतल के छोटे पात्रों में भरकर रोज़ाना पूजा में उपयोग करते हैं, यह मानते हुए कि इसमें देवी गोदावरी की रक्षात्मक कृपा समाहित है।

The Godavari is called “Ganga of the South” and is praised in the Padma‑Purana and Skanda‑Purana as a liberating river. At Nasik (ancient Prabhasa), where the river descends from the Sahyadri hills, the water is said to be especially sanctified. Scriptures state that a sip or a dip at this tirtha removes all sins, grants the merit of an Ashvamedha sacrifice, and leads to moksha. Pilgrims fill small copper or brass vessels to keep the water for daily puja, believing it carries the protective grace of Goddess Godavari.
