पवित्र कावेरी जल / Holy Kaveri Water (Collected at Mysore)

Description

कावेरी को स्कंद और ब्रह्म पुराणों में मातृरूप (कावेरी अम्मन) माना गया है। मिसूर में जहाँ नदी का प्रवाह विशेष रूप से पवित्र माना जाता है, वहाँ का जल अत्यंत शुद्ध कहा जाता है। शास्त्र कहते हैं कि इस स्थान पर एक घूँट या डुबकी से सभी पाप धुल जाते हैं, अश्वमेध यज्ञ के बराबर पुण्य मिलता है और मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है। भक्त इस जल को तांबे के छोटे पात्रों में संग्रहित कर रोज़ाना पूजा में उपयोग करते हैं, यह मानते हुए कि इसमें देवी की रक्षात्मक कृपा समाहित है।

The Kaveri is revered as a divine mother (Kaveri Amman) in the Skanda and Brahma Puranas. At Mysore, where the river flows past the historic Kaveri bank, the water is said to be especially pure. Scriptures declare that a sip or a dip at this spot washes away sins, grants the merit of an Ashvamedha sacrifice, and leads to liberation (moksha). Pilgrims keep the water in small copper vessels for daily puja, believing it carries the protective grace of the goddess.
